The closer we get to summer the more I reminisce about my last vacation in Europe. I spent a short amount of time in Barcelona and I felt it was a mix of Miami and Rio de Janeiro but with a twist of history. Needless to say, I fell in love with it!
Here are some of the highlight moments of my trip other than the historic landmarks (which is incredible):
This market is amazing! It has the best fruit and all different types of tapas and Spanish cuisine. I love a good market and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. Go with an empty stomach and get ready to purchase delicious local food, sweets and tropical drinks!
This boulevard is fabulous. It’s so beautiful and has so many local options to shop. It cuts through the city center so it’s very touristy. Expect lots of people walking around, beautiful architecture and great shopping!
Coming from Miami, I didn’t want to spend time laying around and tanning, but I did make it to the beach for a scenic lunch. It’s absolutely beautiful and a good switch from the gothic architecture. Truly incredible to see a city with such diversity!
Absolutely my favorite moment in Barcelona was hiking up to Bunkers del Carmel for panoramic views of Barcelona from Spanish Civil War bunkers where anti-aircraft guns were installed. It was incredible! Be prepared for a bit of a hike and lots of stairs, but it truly is the perfect place for a sunset moment. You can see the entire city from up top and it is breathtaking. From the beaches to the historic buildings to watching the sunset… an unforgettable experience!
Hope you add Barcelona to your next travel destination, it won’t disappoint!
